The detail on this is amazing. Hand carved from 2 pieces of solid Iroko wood (that's my best guess)- commonly found in West Africa. With a sloped back and angled seat, its original purpose was to help women maintain the proper position to deliver a baby. The carving on the back might be a fertility goddess? Time unknown, but I think mid century.
